Feedback Loop, mixed media installation, dimensions variable, 2023
The source material for this semi-sculptural construction is roughly 1700 digital art compositions printed on paper and representing nearly five years of work from my Daily Art Habit series. A physical embodiment of a process of sorting and decision-making and influenced by context, it celebrates the ordered chaos of life, growth and change.
Starting at approximately 50 feet long, the installation grew over the course of this show, with final dimensions of 65'w x 5'h x 6"d.

Q&A

WHERE DOES THE ARTWORK COME FROM?
The source material is my Daily Art Habit series. I make a digital painting every day. This is a practice I started in 2018 to reclaim my creative energy after a long hiatus from art. Since then, it has grown and evolved into a time-based series of digital paintings – now built over more than 1800 consecutive days’ work.
HOW DO YOU MAKE THE ART?
These are produced by hand with an Apple Pencil on an iPad Pro using the Adobe Sketch and Adobe Fresco apps.
HOW IS IT ORGANIZED AND INSTALLED?
This installation is organized primarily by color. The works are printed as 5.5x5.5 inch postcards, sorted, and constructed into pyramidal units, which then are attached directly to the wall with map pins.
HOW LONG DOES THAT TAKE?
It took about 20 hours solo effort to install this work. Not so long compared to the years it took to make the individual pieces of art! I estimate the process of sorting the images and constructing the individual pyramidal units at about 100 hours.
HAVE YOU EVER MISSED A DAY?
Yes – I’ve missed eight days over the nearly five years of the Daily Art Habit. I record the days I’ve missed with an acknowledgment piece.  You’ll see them in the installation.
IS IT FOR SALE?
Feedback Loop is made up of units that can be re-configured to fit various installation locations. Please contact me to discuss how it might fit in your space on loan or semi-permanently. For something smaller, you may purchase a 12-image unit, roughly 22 x 24 inches in dimension, from this installation for $350. I also produce fine art prints of the individual works in various editions and sizes for sale. Or you may commission a custom multi-piece construction ranging in size from 100 to 1000+ pieces. Check out my shop to see available work, and/or contact me to inquire about a specific piece or commission.
